Passionate coach with loads of Experience “Sometimes you need to be curious to discover lifelong interests.”
That’s how Coach Vikas discovered Golf – Curious about a friend’s busy weekend schedule, he followed him to the Bangalore Golf Club. This chance discovery paved the way for a lifelong interest to converge as a career option. For a child with a military background and someone who grew up amidst musical notes and strings, as his father was part of the Army’s musical ensemble, golf was not even an option.
However, it was his growing interest that prompted him to take on the work of a forecaddie and suddenly he was on a journey of golfing experience. Coach Vikas grew from strength to strength,
learning the game at his job and excelling as he progressed to play in caddie tournaments.
Vikas has caddied for many popular names in the golfing circuit, both in open tournaments and PGTI circuits. He caddied for Sunil Narayan in the All India Amateur and Open Tournaments; caddied for Akbar Ali, known for winning more than 30 tournaments in the PGTI circuit and other popular players like Simran Singh and many more.
As Vikas progressed in his understanding of the nuances of the game, he began to play professionally, participating and winning across India, including Chennai, Jaipur, Pune, Naiveli, etc.
He stepped up his professional career in teaching and joined Shantiniketan Academy from 2000–2006 as a senior teaching professional. His efforts are evident in the list of his students who are junior golfers, such as Keertana, Rajeev, Karishma, Govind, and Disha Agarwal, who are pursuing professional careers.
Vikas continued to play on the professional circuit before joining Touché in 2010 as a teaching professional, and he even worked as a club fitting assistant at Club Works. Presently, Coach Vikas
works at To The Tee as a senior teaching professional and continues to strive to build golfing talent in India.
